As part of
SuiteSpot, Netscape Collabra Server provides collaboration
services through discussion groups. A company's
employees can participate in private "virtual
meetings" that break down barriers of time and
distance. Users can create their own discussion
groups to share product development ideas, allow
customers to discuss problems and request
information, check the status of requests and billing
information, track and distribute competitive
information from the field, and develop
communities of interest around products and
services.
Build a virtual comunity around your organization. Netscape News Server and Netscape Collabra Server do much more
than handle discussion groups: They allow users to truly collaborate
while building a valuable, permanent corporate knowledge base.
Anyone with a browser - employees, partners, customers, and vendors
- can share information securely using all media types, including
graphics and audio files.
With Collabra Server, users can create their own discussion groups,
track discussions across multiple discussion groups, and monitor
discussions automatically for content meeting their specifications.
These "virtual discussion groups" are automatically populated when a
relevant new message appears in its native forum. Discussion groups
can reference Usenet information, include links to web pages for easy
access to published documents, and let users participate via email.
Users can find relevant information with the help of powerful search
and notification tools, and specify whether to ignore or watch
particular topics, depending on their interests. They can take care of
the day-to-day administration of groups, such as moderating content
and controlling membership, on their own.
Keep your collaboration secure. Access to discussion groups can
be controlled by many attributes, such as user name and password,
domain name, or certificate. Collabra Server uses an LDAP directory
service for user and group management. Each discussion group can be
private, semiprivate, or public. Administrators can even filter out or
restrict access to specific Usenet groups.
