Beginning with Mac OS 8.5, Apple replaced the Mac OS "Find" function with the much more powerful Sherlock, a feature that enables Macintosh users to search the Internet using multiple search engines simultaneously - directly from the MacOS desktop.
With Netscape Navigator, it's easy to access Netscape Search by typing a search term directly into the browser's location box. With Sherlock, Macintosh users can access Netscape Search without even opening their browser! To use Netscape search through Sherlock, simply follow these steps: First, download the Netscape Search Sherlock module and decompress it. Then drag your newly downloaded file into your System Folder. The MacOS should automatically install the file in the Internet Search Sites folder in your System Folder:
Now when you use Sherlock, your newly installed module will show up as a search site. Note: Sherlock is available ONLY for Apple Macintosh users with at least MacOS 8.5 installed. Sherlock is not available on Windows.
