NETSCAPE AND EUROSEEK ANNOUNCE SEARCH ENGINE ADOPTION AGREEMENT

Euroseek's Custom Search Engine To Be Featured On Nine Netscape Netcenter Portals in Europe Leading To More Extensive Language Specific Searches

Netscape's Open Directory Project to be Licensed by Euroseek, Giving Users Access to its Directory of Over 1.6 Million Sites and Expertise of 23,000 Worldwide Editors

LONDON, UK, April 27, 2000 -- Netscape Communications, a subsidiary of America Online, Inc. (NYSE: AOL), and leading European internet service Euroseek, announced that Euroseek will provide its European tailored search engine to nine Netscape® Netcenter sites across Europe. In addition, Euroseek has agreed to license data from Netscape's Open Directory Project, the largest human edited directory in cyberspace.

Under terms of the pan-European agreement, users of the Netcenter portals in Sweden, Denmark, Portugal, Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and Great Britain will have direct access to Euroseek's comprehensive search engine. Users of localized versions of the new Netscape 6 browser will be able to benefit from Euroseek search results via the Web search field in the main browser toolbar for easy and quick access to search results. Euroseek is available in 39 different languages making it easier than ever for those who want to search the Internet in their own language.

Euroseek, in turn, will license data from the Netscape's Open Directory Project (ODP), currently the largest human powered search directory with over 1.6 million sites in over 260,000 categories, compiled and organized by over 23,000 editors in 229 countries and in over 42 languages. Euroseek's adoption of the ODP will assure that its users will be receiving the most up-to-date and relevant search results by employing the industry's first freshness dating system delivering less than one-percent dead links.

"We are excited by our partnership with Euroseek and the ability to draw from their European expertise," said John Heins, Netscape Vice President for Sales and International Operations. "Through Euroseek's established leadership in the search field and their adoption of the ODP, the European users of Netscape properties will have easy access relevant regional search results."

"Our agreement with Netscape gives us greater weight in Europe," said Peter de Verdier, Euroseek Senior Vice President for Marketing and Sales. "The increased exposure gained from our relationship will lead to increased traffic at the same time benefiting the European users of the Netscape brand by providing them with localized search options."
