Joining Netscape Netcenter
Any computer user with a modem, an Internet connection, and a Web browser (it doesn't have to be Netscape Navigator) can access Netscape Netcenter. Some features of Netscape Netcenter, however, require you to become a member before you can access them. Not to worry-registration is fast and easy and, best of all, completely free!
To register as a new member of Netscape Netcenter, follow these simple steps:
- Use your Web browser to access the main Netscape Netcenter page, home.netscape.com.
- Scroll down the page and click the About Netcenter link at the bottom of the right-hand column.
- When the About Netcenter page appears, click the Join Now! button.
- When the Join Netcenter Now page appears, click the Express Registration link.
- When the Member Sign In page appears, click the Sign Up as a New Netcenter Member link.
- When the Express Registration page appears, enter the following information:
- Your desired username, which can be from 3 to 20 characters long. This is the name other users know you by.
- Your desired password, which can be from 3 to 20 characters long. Try to pick something you can remember, but others can't guess.
- A hint to help you remember your password, in case you ever forget it.
- Your current email address.
- Your first and last names.
- Your street address, city, state, ZIP code, and country.
- Your age range.
- Select whether or not you want to be included in the Member Directory, receive email notification of new services, or have your information provided to other companies for marketing purposes.

- Click the Next button.
- The Email Confirmation page lets you know that the username you requested has been assigned to you. (If you don't see this page, you'll have to back up and try a different username; with more than 10 million users, many of the more obvious names are already taken!) Click the Next button.
- Next, you see a registration screen for Netscape AOL Instant Messenger. If you're a member of America Online, click the button labeled Current America Online Members Click Here; Instant Messenger uses your AOL screen name as your Instant Messenger screen name. If you're not an AOL member, enter a screen name and password, select your privacy options, and click the Submit Screen Name button.
- If your screen name is accepted, you'll see another Registration page. (If your name isn't accepted, back up and choose another name!) Click the Next button and you'll be taken back to the main Netscape Netcenter page.
