Smart Browsing with Internet Keywords
To help you find information faster, Netscape has created Smart Browsing. Instead of the traditional method of remembering and typing long Web addresses into the Location box, with Smart Browsing you can just type product names, company names, Web site names, or general subject terms. Netscape Navigator recognizes that these are regular words and not URLs (no .com or www., and so on) and sends the words to a special Netscape Netcenter server, which looks up the words and displays the appropriate Web site. If there is no single best-fitting match, Netscape Navigator displays a Web page with multiple matches.
For example, if you enter ibm into the Location box and then click Enter, Smart Browsing instructs Netscape Navigator to go directly to www.ibm.com. It even works with addresses that have less relation to the name of the company; entering united airlines automatically takes you to www.ual.com!
 |
URL The uniform resource locator is the formal Web address for a specific Web page. For example, the address www.netscape.com is a URL. |

Smart Browsing Rules When entering text for Smart Browsing, remember that spaces are okay and that capital letters are ignored (it's not case sensitive). |
