Netscape Search is the default search engine on Netscape Netcenter. Powered by Excite, Netscape Search lets you search by concept; in addition to looking for pages that contain the exact words in your query, Netscape Search also looks for ideas closely linked to the words in your query.
To perform a basic search from the Netcenter home page,
- From the Netscape Netcenter home page (home.netcenter.com), pull down the search services list and select a search engine or directory.
- In the query box, enter the word or words you want to search for.
- Click the Search button (or press the Enter key) to initiate the search.
Your Search Results are displayed on a new page, as shown in Figure 9.2. The results are listed in order of relevancy; the closest matches are listed first.

For each results listing, you see how well that page matches your query (in terms of percent-100% is a perfect match), as well as a very brief description of the particular page. To go to an individual page, click the page link; to view other pages on that Web site, click the More Like This link. To see the next page of results, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the More Results button.
