Creating a New Email Message with Netscape Messenger
Use Netscape Messenger to create all your mail messages; just follow these steps:
- Click the New Msg button on the toolbar.
- When the Composition dialog box appears, enter the email address of the recipient(s) in the To field. If you want someone to receive a carbon copy of the message, click the To button and select Cc, then enter an address into the Cc field. To enter multiple addresses, press Enter between addresses.
- If the person you want to send email to is in your personal address book, simply begin typing that person's name and Messenger fills in the email address for you. Using Pinpoint Addressing, Messenger automatically checks all your personal address books, as well as the Netcenter Member Directory, to complete the name and email address information for you. If there is more than one match, a dialog box appears with additional information on all possible matches, so you can select the correct recipient.
- Enter the subject of the message in the Subject box.
- Move your cursor to the main message area and type your message.
- If you are sending the message in HTML format, you can use the formatting buttons on the toolbar to add boldface, italic, underlined, or aligned text; you can also add background colors and graphics, if you so desire.
- When your message is complete, click the Send button.

Sending HTML Email When you click the Send button for a message that contains HTML text formatting, a dialog box asks if you want to send the message in HTML, Plain Text, or Both HTML and Plain Text. Unless you're sure the recipient is using an HTML-compatible email program (such as Netscape Messenger, Netscape WebMail, Outlook Express, or Microsoft Exchange mail), select Both HTML and Plain Text. |

Sending Files Via Email If you want to send a file to someone over the Internet, the easiest way to do so is to attach that file to an email message. After you've created a new message, click the Attach button on the toolbar and select File. When the Enter File to Attach dialog box appears, locate the file you want to send and click Open. The attached file is sent along with your normal message when you click the Send button. |
