Lesson Content

To join a Netscape Community Forum, follow these steps:

  1. From the Netscape Netcenter home page, click the Forums link.
  1. When the Community Forums page appears, click a specific forum-Career Center, Computing & Internet, Small Business Source, Entertainment, Web Culture, or Issues and Ideas.
  1. The main page for each forum includes a short column from the forum host, some relevant resource links, and a quote from a community member. Click the Join the Conversation link to proceed.
  1. Once you're in a forum, you see a list of all the topics within the forum (see Figure 14.1).

Topics with a "padlock" icon are read-only, meaning you can only read the posts and can't make any new posts yourself. Topics with a "plus sign" icon have new posts since you last visited. The Last Post column tells you when the last message was posted; the New column tells you how many new posts there are; and the Total column tells you how many total posts there are for each topic.
