Netscape Netcenter also lets you place your own classified ads. To do so:

1. Go to the main Classifieds page (refer to Figure 17.1) by clicking the Classifieds link on the Netscape Netcenter home page.

2. Click the Place Ads link.

3. When the next page appears, click the category in which you want to place an ad.

4. Some categories let you either place an ad or put your merchandise up for auction. If you have a choice, click the Place a Classified Ad link. (Auctions are discussed later in this lesson.)

One Category Only, Please  Netscape does not permit duplicate ads, so please place your ad in one category only.

5. When the next page appears, click a subcategory for your ad.

6. When the sign-in page appears, enter your user ID and password, and click Continue. (If you're a first-time visitor, click the I Need a User ID link and follow the directions there; you'll need to supply some personal information, including your name and email address.)

NOT Your Netcenter ID!  Even if you are a registered Netcenter member, you must register separately to use the Classifieds service. While you may be able to use the same user ID and password, you'll still have to sign up for the Classifieds service on your first visit.

7. When the next page appears, follow the category-specific instructions for placing your ad. Make sure you set the duration you want your ad to run; you can elect to run an ad for one to 12 weeks.

8. Click the Preview Ad button to review your ad; if you like what you see, click the Place My Ad. (If you don't like the preview, click your browser's Back button and edit what you entered.)
